Introduction
Welcome to our Spear Staff solo build guide. In this guide, we’ll go over our recommended way to set-up the Spear Staff weapon combination for Solo Farming. This set-up is primarily used in Abyss Dungeons in the Open World. The weapon combination forms the “Eradicator” Class. Both the Spear and Staff utilize incredibly high AoE damaging Skills. As a result, for solo farming, this combination is one of the best in the game.
Skills
Below is our Skill set-up for Solo PVE farming:
This combination of Skills allows for large mob pulls and plans to AoE everything down with a combination such as Explosive Fury and Javelin Inferno. Additionally, you have the entire Staff rotation at your disposal. For example, Serial Fire Bombs, Inferno Wave, Chain Lightning and Judgment Lightning.
Skill Specializations
With 100 total points to play with once you hit Level 50, below is our recommended Specializations for the Spear Staff Solo build:
These particular Specializations provides a comfortable set-up for farming mobs in large quantities. This allows for massive pulls as the Spear and Staff bring consistently high AoE damage. See our Skill Specializations guide for more information.
Weapon Mastery
This guide assumes you are at least in the range of Level 13-16 Weapon Mastery. However, if you’re below or above this threshold, it’s not an issue. Simply spec into the mastery trees that provide the most damage first.
Stats
Stats once you reach Tier 1 Epic gear can vary frequently due to stats built into gear. As a result, try to push for at least 30 Strength and 70 Dexterity with the stat distribution below – gear depending. Below is our recommended baseline Stat allocation:
- Dexterity – 16 Points
- Wisdom – 17 Points
- Strength – 7 Points
- Perception – 9 Points
Gear & Equipment
The gear loadout largely, if not entirely, stays the same across all content once you reach Tier 1 Epic. Our Tier 1 Epic set assumes that most of the base content has been unlocked with the Milestones completed.
Early on, make use of your Rare gear you acquired through MSQ. It is totally fine and expected to be in Rare gear for quite a long time – so don’t worry too much! Most of the time, your PVP gear is perfectly fine in PVE.
Archboss weapons are a bonus due to the incredible level of difficulty to obtain them. However, if you can get Bellandir’s Hivemind Staff, it truly brings this build to life.
Runes are set-up in the build to provide more Max Health, Boss Heavy Attack Chance (For Elite spawns) and additional healing and defenses. As we’re gearing towards PVE, we do not have to worry about Hit Chance.
This build also utilizes a ton of Attack Speed from 4-set Shadow Harvester and the many sources of Mana Regen from the Cloak and traits. Spear as a weapon consumes a ton of Mana, so Mana Regen is especially valuable.
For progression gear and the basic 1-50, check out our leveling guide.
Guardian
Guardians are a unique transformation on a 10 minute Cooldown that gives powerful bonuses to you for 30 seconds. Some Guardians work as an additional “Active” Skill, while others provide buffs. We recommend the following Guardians for Solo Farming:
- Shade Revenant Stheno – Stheno is the most offense-heavy choice in PVE. This Guardian dishes out consistent damage dealing projectiles to multiple targets.
How to Play The Spear Staff Solo Build
Our Spear Staff Solo build guide not only aims to teach you how to put it together, but also how to play it.
The main objective of playing this build solo is to be able to manage multiple mobs alone and efficiently clear them. You’ll have no worries when it concerns AoE farming – both of the weapons in this build provide elite levels of AoE damage. The AoE damage comes from the power of the Staff’s fire & lightning Skills and the Spears incredible Javelin AoE burst.
Skill Rotations
The standard large pack pull rotation is as follows:
- High Focus
- Unyielding Sentinel
- Serial Fire Bombs (Focused Fire Bomb)
- Inferno Wave
- Judgment Lightning
- Chain Lightning
- Cyclonic Fury
- Explosive Fury x5
- Phoenix Barrage
- Javelin Inferno x5
This rotation makes the most of stacking multiple targets together and blowing them all up. High Focus and Unyielding Sentinel set you up to have increased Cooldown Speed, a protective shield and a buff to your Heavy Attack Chance. Leading with Focused Fire Bomb and following up with your Inferno Wave and Lightning Skills gives you the highest AoE cleave output. This is a result of building up burn stacks to increase the potency of Inferno Wave and Chain Lightning – even potentially landing a second activation of Judgment Lightning!
For the Spear rotation in melee range, starting with Cyclonic Fury provides you with two key buffs:
- Critical Damage for 3 seconds
- Burst Stacks
Burst stacks works well with Explosive Fury due to a specialization that increases your Explosive Fury damage at full Burst stacks. Fortunately, Cyclonic Fury instantly stacks maximum Burst stacks! As a result, leading with Cyclonic Fury and chaining into the rest of your combo provides the absolute maximum damage output possible. Use Explosive Fury to build up your 5 Javelin Inferno activations to wipe entirely hordes of mobs.
