How to Cook in Throne and Liberty

Cooking in Throne and Liberty is an easy yet important Life Skill to progress. This applies whether you’re a PVP player or PVE player. To start your career as a chef, you can head to one of two interactable stations:

  • Any Campfire in the open world
  • Any “Cooking Oven” in towns and Stonegard Castle

Cooking at a campfire, however, limits what you can and cannot cook. To access the full cooking recipe list, use the Cooking Oven.

How to Level Cooking

Leveling cooking is as straightforward as it seems. Simply cook available recipes you have the ingredients for and you’ll gain EXP!

As seen above, there is several components to cooking and how to check if you’re progressing as effectively as possible:

  • Your Level and EXP progression can be found in the top right of the menu.
  • The amount of EXP you gain from a recipe is located beneath the recipe ingredients.
  • The ingredients required for a recipe is located in the center of the menu, beside the item image.
  • On the far left of the screen, you have various tabs, each with different types of recipes.
  • The crafting Success Rate & Great Success Rate of a recipe is located in the bottom right of the menu.

The maximum level for Cooking is currently 25. Starting from Level 1, you’ll unlock more recipes with each level up. As a result, it’s important to check which recipe is giving you the most EXP for your current level. Some recipes can also be more difficult to mass produce due to some tricky ingredient requirements. However, some recipes allow for “substitute materials” to be used. Regardless, certain recipes can be better to mass cook even if they’re a little lower EXP – if they’re easier to get the ingredients for.

Recipe Types

There is five types of recipes you can cook at a Cooking Oven. There is also a tab for “all” and another for your favorite recipes. Below is a list of each type:

  • Attack: Recipes for food that provide offensive benefits, such as Hit, Critical Hit, Heavy Attack Chance and Skill Damage Boost.
  • Defense: Recipes for food that provide defensive benefits, such as Evasion, Endurance, Skill Damage Resistance and more.
  • Utility: Recipes for food that provide “other” stat benefits, such as Max Health, Health & Mana Regen, Skill Heal, Mana Cost Efficiency, Attack Speed and more.
  • Remedy: Recipes for remedies that provide boosts of power, defenses or the ability to remove Crowd Control on use.
  • Miscellaneous: Recipes for food that provide non-combat bonuses, such as increased Sollant or Mastery gain, EXP bonuses, Abyssal Contract Token Efficiency and more.

Crafting Success

When cooking recipes in Throne and Liberty, much like crafting gear, you can “Great Success” a recipe. When a recipe cooks as a “Great Success”, you can place the food directly onto the Auction House to sell for Lucent!

However, another “Success” you have in recipe cooking is the chance to make a higher quality consumable. For example:

Food that is by default a “Common” craft can also roll at Uncommon or even Rare quality. The percentage chance is determined by your cooking level.

Where to Get Ingredients in Throne and Liberty

Ingredients can be found in several places throughout the map. Some ingredients can be obtained from farming the open world. For example, farming Black Boars in the rain to gather Black Pig Pork. Or perhaps you’re simply gathering herb nodes for Rare Natural Essence to cook remedies. There is, however, a couple more ways to gather vital ingredients to many recipes.

Amitoi Expedition

Another Life Skill, known as “Amitoi Expedition”, is a fantastic way to passively farm a key ingredient – Salt. Salt is used in a large majority of recipes. As a result, Amitoi Expeditions should be utilized as much as possible to gather it, as you’ll need Salt a lot. To learn more about Expeditions, check out our Amitoi Expedition guide.

Merchant

Finally, the Sundries Merchant is a guaranteed way to get some basic ingredients for recipes. There is also a couple of ingredients that’re limited to a daily quantity. For example, Eggs and Golden Rye. Make sure to visit the Sundries Merchant before every daily reset to stockpile ingredients.
