Introduction

In order to gain access to Taedal’s Tower floor 6 you must be level 24 and have completed floor five. On this floor you will encounter the Red Mad Pyromancer. This boss’s attacks focus on burning damage and damage over time. He is not very mobile, and wields a staff and shoots fireballs towards you. The boss also has an ability that covers the entire arena that you must avoid.

Taedal's Tower Floor 6 - Finding the Piton in the Flames

Abilities & Mechanics

The primary mechanic of this encounter are the pillars that appear in around the edges of the arena. The boss will summon fire into the arena and pillars will appear. You have to get on one of the pillars in order to avoid taking a massive amount of damage. If you can master this mechanic you can easily defeat Taedal’s Tower floor 6.

Melee or ranged combat are both effective during this fight. However, it may get a bit frustrating from melee range when the Red Pyromancer utilizes his teleport ability. If melee you will need to chase him down each time he teleports.

The abilities you need to be aware of in order to complete this floor include:

  • Burning Arena – As the name of the floor suggests you must find the piton in the flames in order to survive. The pyromancer will teleport to the center of the arena. After he teleports he will begin chanting. Shortly after you will see four pillars appear on the edge of the arena. Quickly after the pillars appear the entire arena will turn red and begin to burn. You must make it one of the pillars and activate the piton to jump on top of the pillar before you start to burn. You will take a massive amount of damage and most likely die if you do not make to a pillar before you begin to take damage. Wait for the arena to stop burning before you jump off the pilar and continue the fight.
  • Burning Arena Phase 2 – Phase 2 is the same as Burning Arena. However, once the boss is at low health there will only be 1 pillar that appears. This means you must quickly make it to the single pillar in order to avoid the mechanic. Tip: Stay near the middle of the arena so you can quickly move in any direction to get to the pillar.

  • Teleport – The pyromancer stays pretty stationary for most of the fight. However, periodically he will quickly teleport around the arena. By doing so he can evade your attacks or position himself closer to you to.
  • Charge – The boss will charge towards you. He will have the purple circle on him during this attack which means you can perform a perfect block to avoid the ability.
  • Explosions – You will see the pyromancer waving his staff around in the air. Shortly after you will see the ground begin to glow red underneath your location. A couple seconds after the red appears an explosion will happen. This is an AoE Ability. You can avoid taking damage by moving out of the red areas when they appear.
