Abilities & Mechanics
Upon entering the area you will see the boss in the middle, and 3 pillars surrounding him. Once you begin the fight the Immortal Guardian will utilize a few of his abilities, including the Hammer Smash and Glowing Hammer abilities. You will need to avoid these abilities (as described below) and damage the boss. After a few moments the boss will leap onto one of the pillars. When this happens the entire arena will glow red, and standing on the floor will result in you taking heavy damage over time.
When the arena is glowing red you can not stand in it for more than a few seconds before you die. The boss will stay on the pillars for the duration of the fight. You must be careful not get knocked off the pillar while fighting him, and you’ll have to follow him from pillar to pillar as he fight continues. This means you will need to be aware of your stamina because you will need to jump, morph, and grab a piton on the pillar to pull yourself up to the boss when he moves.
Once he jumps to another pillar he will begin heal himself with a regenerative ability. You can CC him out of his heal and continue the fight. However, you can also utilize this time to heal up yourself. If you get into a bind you can always head to another pillar, but bear in mind you can not damage the boss from another pillar.
While you’re fighting on the pillars make sure you position yourself behind the boss. He will periodically perform an ability that will push you off of the pillar and back into the burning floor. This will likely mean your death. So, be careful not to get pushed off.
Abilities
The Immortal Guardian has the following abilities that you need to be aware of:
- Hammer Smash – The Guardian will swing his hammer in a circle and then smash the ground. As he swings you will you see waves head outward throughout the entire arena. You will need to jump in order to avoid taking damage. Time your hump just before he hits the ground with the hammer.
- Glowing Hammer – The boss will charge his hammer with energy. It takes a few moments to charge. As it’s charging the purple block circle will appear. Once the charge is complete an arena wide AoE will occur. If you are hit you will be damaged and stunned for a short duration. In order to avoid taking damage and the stun you need to time the block.
- Burning Floor – The Immortal Guardian will leap to one of the pillars. When he does this the entire arena floor will begin to burn. This burn generates high damage of time. You will need to climb one of the pillars in utilizing the pitons in order to avoid taking damage.
- Push – The boss will strike forward with his hammer. He will then swing it three more times. If you are hit with the ability you can be pushed and knocked off of the pillar into the burning floor.
- Regenerate – Whenever the boss leaps to another platform he stand still in a meditation state. He will begin to regenerate health while in this state. You can knock him out of the regenerate state by landing a stun or other CC ability that interrupts.
