Taedal's Tower Floor 10 - Commander's Shadow Strike

Abilities & Mechanics

Just like every other encounter, make sure you’re aware of the purple block circles. Timing your perfect blocks will help you avoid damage and clear the floor.

The main mechanic of this fight is the arena AoE that the boss casts whenever he leaps into the air. When he lands from his jump the entire arena will fill with AoE Damage. It only lasts for a brief moment, but getting hit by it will cause massive damage, and will possibly lead to your death. In order to avoid the damage you will need to jump yourself. You must time your jump appropriately in order to survive. You want to make sure you’re in the air when he lands.

This Skeleton Commander also has a good amount of health and his other attacks hit fairly hard as well. Make sure you’re paying attention to all his animations and utilizing your crowd control abilities accordingly. Both ranged and melee are effective at defeating the Skeleton.

Abilities

The abilities that you need to be aware of are as follows:

  • Jump AoE – The Oblivion Skeleton Commander will jump high into the air. When he lands the entire arena will be filled with AoE damage, causing massive damage to you if you’re caught in it. In order to avoid getting hit you must jump and be in the air when the boss lands. Be aware that this ability can be repeated several times in a row, so be prepared to jump more than once.

  • Cloud Pull – The boss will cast a dark cloud of energy. This cloud will be pushed towards you and then immediately pulled back towards the boss dragging you with it if you’re caught in its path. You can sidestep the ability to avoid being pulled in.
  • Jump Pull – Whenever the Skeleton reaches less than 50% health he will jump and pull you towards him. You can not avoid the pull. However, once you’re pulled in you must quickly move away for the boss in order to avoid taking AoE damage.
  • Dash – The boss will rush towards you. If you are hit you will be stunned. This ability can be blocked, so make sure you’re paying attention to the purple block circle to avoid the stun.
