Introduction
Welcome to our Staff Wand Leveling guide! Learn how to progress in one of Throne and Liberty’s best weapon combinations in our Staff Wand Leveling Build Guide. This weapon combination creates the “Invocator” Class.
Skill Progression
The Staff/Wand weapon combination has a potent mix of Damage and Sustain making it the perfect leveling build in Throne and Liberty. As you Level up through Throne and Liberty, you’ll unlock skills for both weapons. Below is our recommendations for Active and Passive skills as you level up.
Starting with Staff Wand, you’ll have access to 8 Active Skills and no Passive. Be sure to equip all active skills on your bar and move them off as you get access to the recommended skills.
Skill Upgrade Priority
Next, let’s look at which order you will upgrade your skills. Each skill in Throne and Liberty starts at Level 1 uncommon and can be progressed to Level 5 Epic using the appropriate Skill Growth Books. These can be obtained by completing Adventure Codex, Exploration Codex, and more! Below is our recommended Skill Upgrade order for Staff Wand Leveling.
Skills Specialization
At level 15, you’ll unlock Skill Specializations! Skill Specs help drastically change your skill and the way your character performs in combat. You’ll start with 10 Specialization points and gain 2 -3 per level until you max out at 100. Below is a look at how you’ll spend your points on each skill. Spend points in a similar order to the order in which you upgrade your skills above.
EXAMPLE – place skill specs in Swift healing and Serial Fire bomb First.
This Specialization path will keep you mobile, full of mana, and dealing good damage while pushing through the leveling process.
Stat Priority
While leveling, your stats and attributes are going to change frequently as you find and equip new gear. For a General rule of Stat Priority for the Staff Wand Build, we will focus on Strength and Wisdom, while placing the remaining points into perception. Below are the thresholds you want to hit and priority in which to hit them in.
- Wisdom 50 – Cooldown reduction, mana Regen
- Strength 30 – Max Health Increase
- Rest into perception
The increased Cooldown reduction and Mana regen from Wisdom will help you continue pushing through quest lines without having to stop for mana. The extra strength from health will help out with survivability. If you feel comfortable with low health totals, you can use DEXTERITY to 30 instead to get the increase to damage.
Weapon Mastery
Weapon Mastery is gained through consuming an item called Training Dew. Training Dew can be earned in several activities including Contracts in Throne and Liberty. Once consumed it will increase the Weapon Mastery of your equipped weapons. Below is a general guideline of how to spend your mastery points. Start by filling out the Recovery Line on Wand and the Destroy line on Staff.
Gear Progression
As you level up in Throne and Liberty, you’ll encounter a lot of gear along the way. Below is a general selection of both common and Rare gear to help you make quick decisions as you earn rewards! To learn more about gear progression, be sure to check out our guide.

While leveling, the Staff Wand build grants Good Ranged DPS with ELITE sustain. Along with healing spells, you will also gain access to Inner Piece, and several passives that will help keep your health and mana full to stay in the fight. Below, let’s look at your skill rotation.
Skill Rotation
For this build, the skill rotation can be broken down into Damage and Recovery. First, let’s look at the damage rotation.
Damage Rotation
- Start the fight by applying Time for Punishment to the target.
- Apply Touch of Despair on cooldown
- Fire Bombs on cooldown
- inferno Wave on cooldown
- Once 10 Burnstacks have been applied
- Fireball Barrage
- Chain Lightning

Recovery (sustain)
To recover back to full health/Mana while dealing passive damage with the Inner Piece – Thunder Blessing spec. Lay down Fountain of Life and cast Inner Piece in the AOE heal.
