Introduction
Welcome to our Spear Dagger PVP build guide for Throne and Liberty. This guide focuses on the PVP set-up for Spear Dagger and how to play it. The weapon combination forms the “Shadowdancer” Class.
Skills
Below are the Skills and Specializations we recommend for the Spear Dagger PVP Build. This includes Large Scale and Small Scale:
ALL PVP (PVP Boss, GVG, Castle Siege, Events, Arena)
The Spear Dagger set-up is pretty straight forward. The build is pretty locked in for a specific playstyle in most content. In this case, it is served best as an AoE, Flame Javelin-throwing AoE blaster. This build set-up potentially has the highest AoE damage numbers in the game. However, the single-target is no slouch either.
Specializations
With 100 total points to play with once you hit Level 50, below is our recommended Specializations for the Spear Dagger build for Large Scale PVP:
Every Specialization helps towards locking down targets, dealing damage to targets while stacking your Javelin ammo, and nuking down clumps of players. For smaller scale PVP such as Arena, aim to remove more of the cleave/AoE type specializations and invest more into survivability, cooldown and other utilities.
See our Skill Specializations guide for more information.
Weapon Mastery
This guide assumes you are at least in the range of Level 13-16 Weapon Mastery. However, if you’re below this threshold, it’s not an issue. Simply spec into the mastery trees that provide the most damage first.
Stats
Stats once you reach Tier 1 Epic gear can vary frequently due to stats built into gear. As a result, try to push for at least 60 Perception and 60 Strength while participating in PVP – gear depending. Below is our recommended baseline Stat allocation:
- Strength – 17 Points
- Dexterity – 20 Points
- Perception – 10 Points
- Wisdom – 2 Points
Gear & Equipment
The gear loadout largely, if not entirely, stays the same across all content once you reach Tier 1 Epic. Our Tier 1 Epic set assumes that most of the base content has been unlocked with the Milestones completed.
Archboss weapons are a great bonus to any build, however, do not feel any pressure to obtain them. They’re not mandatory, no matter how cool they are!
Runes are set-up to push our Evasion thresholds higher and increase our base Hit chance. Finally, we round out the supportive side with increased Amitoi Healing and Skill Damage resistance where possible.
For a guide on early progression, see our 1-50 leveling guide for Spear Dagger.
Guardian
Guardians are a unique transformation on a 10 minute Cooldown that gives powerful bonuses to you for 30 seconds. Some Guardians work as an additional “Active” Skill, while others provide buffs. We recommend the following Guardians for PVP:
- Pale Nemesis Hartach – Hartach is as close as you can get to a Tevent’s Fangs of Fury-style effect. This Guardian requires a bit more knowledge and skill to pull off. However, if you can utilize it well, it doubles as a strong defensive and offensive Guardian.
- Lady Knight Kamarshea – This Guardian is a fantastic safety net, just incase you’re taking too much damage on an engage. You’ll also get a huge amount of Cooldown Speed too.
How to Play the Spear Dagger PVP Build
The Spear Dagger build is the best of both worlds, you’re able to play up-close as a skirmisher-come-assassin, and from afar with potent Javelins. As a result, you’ll need to master managing both sides of the kit to shine in PVP.
For PVP, this build is used to deal damage through nuking multiple target and locking them down with a lot of movement speed reduction and a Stun – or diving stacked players with Camouflage and causing considerable damage. You have fantastic levels of AoE, single-target and Crowd Control.
Large Scale Rotation
Below is a quick but straight forward AoE rotation for large scale PVP:
- Lightning Infusion
- Thunder Spirit
- Camouflage Cloak in (if you need to) or Death from Above
- Unyielding Sentinel
- Phantom Smokescreen
- Explosive Fury x5 (unless you already have 5 javelins stacked)
- Javelin Inferno x5 (or as many as you can with ammo resets)
While there is plenty of other Skills that can fit into this rotation, the above is the bread and butter of a successful all-in for AoE. The goal here in large scale is to play as an AoE bomber. As a result, your rotation is pretty straight forward but very deadly when the opportunity is found. Lightning Infusion and Thunder Spirit work together with Javelin Inferno to spread incredible amount of AoE damage very fast. Skills such as Camouflage Cloak, Phantom Smokescreen and Unyielding Sentinel all assist you in reaching your goal.
For the Spear Dagger bomber, you don’t mind if you are killed, as long as you achieve your nuke attempt. Another matter of importance is keeping an eye on your Javelin ammo count and if you need to refresh it with Explosive Fury. However, you can snowball out of control in the middle of your rotation too if you land kills, this is due to gaining additional Javelins upon player kill.
If pulled off correctly, you truly are an AoE terror in the large scale warzone.
Small Scale Rotations
A very straight forward single-target kill rotation is as follows:
- Lightning Infusion
- Umbral Spirit
- Unyielding Sentinel
- Shadow Strike
- Tempest Strike
- Phoenix Barrage
- Abyssal Cleave
- Explosive Fury x5
- Javelin Inferno (if needed to clean up)
This rotation involves weaving Crowd Controls into your standard arrangement to ensure your target remains locked down for you to hit and not respond to you. For smaller scale PVP in general, you can also remove Skills such as Death from Above and add Thunderclouds Bombing to your arsenal for single-target burst.
