Introduction
Welcome to our Bow Dagger DPS Build guide for Throne and Liberty. This guide focuses on the PVP set-up for Bow Dagger and how to play it.
Skills
Below are the Skills and Specializations we recommend for the Bow and Dagger DPS Build in PVP. This includes Large Scale and Small Scale:
Large Scale PVP (PVP Boss, GVG, Castle Siege)
Melee Skills and single-target focused Skills are largely ignored in this set-up. This is to ensure you have every AoE/cleave Skill available to you. Defensive Skills also play a large role in keeping you alive in huge player-count PVP scenarios.
Large Scale Specializations
With 100 total points to play with once you hit Level 50, below is our recommended Specializations for the Bow and Dagger DPS build for Large Scale PVP:
Every single cleave or AoE Specialization is selected for Large Scale PVP. The aim is to deal as much damage as possible to multiple targets while finishing off single targets.
Small Scale PVP (Arena, Dominion, Night PVP)
This set-up drops more of the AoE and cleave options to focus on single-target skirmishing.
Small Scale Specializations
For Small Scale, picking more single-target CC utility and burst tools in the Specializations is highly recommended.
See our Skill Specializations guide for more information.
Weapon Mastery
This guide assumes you are at least in the range of Level 13-16 Weapon Mastery. However, if you’re below this threshold, it’s not an issue. Simply spec into the mastery trees that provide the most damage first.
Stats
Stats once you reach Tier 1 Epic gear can vary frequently due to stats built into gear. As a result, try to push for at least 50 Perception and 50 Dexterity while participating in a dungeon run – gear depending. Below is our recommended baseline Stat allocation:
- Dexterity – 20 Points
- Perception – 21 Points
- Strength – 7 Points
Gear & Equipment
The gear loadout largely, if not entirely, stays the same across all content once you reach Tier 1 Epic. Our Tier 1 Epic set assumes that most of the base content has been unlocked with the Milestones completed.
We also recommend picking up Aelon’s Rejuvenating Bow for PVP. Aelon’s Rejuvenating Bow provides a huge Hit increase which helps in PVP versus players with high Evasion.
Guardian
Guardians are a unique transformation on a 10 minute Cooldown that gives powerful bonuses to you for 30 seconds. Some Guardians work as an additional “Active” Skill, while others provide buffs. We recommend the following Guardians for PVP:
- Pale Nemesis Hartach – Hartach is as close as you can get to a Tevent’s Fangs of Fury-style effect. This Guardian requires a bit more knowledge and skill to pull off. However, if you can utilize it well, it doubles as a strong defensive and offensive Guardian.
- Lady Knight Kamarshea – This Guardian is a fantastic safety net, just incase you’re taking too much damage on an engage. You’ll also get a huge amount of Cooldown Speed too.
How to Play the Bow Dagger DPS Build
The Bow Dagger DPS build has Top Tier Single-Target Damage capabilities and a solid AoE potential, making it a must-have in PVP. Below, we’ll break down the basics of the PvP gameplay approaches with the build. The build primarily plays from range, with the option to also move in close to clean up kills.
As a Bow Dagger DPS build, you have an important role to play. Finding great positioning to start applying single-target pressure to the enemy DPS players and looking out for massive AoE nukes with Flash Wave is vital.
Skill Rotations
As a Bow Dagger in Large Scale, the most important moments of the fight happen at the start of an engage. As a result, look to use this rotation when your team is engaging:
- Pop Camouflage to get into position
- Charge and fire your first Flash Wave (with a Guaranteed Critical Hit)
- Use Blitz (Limit Break)
- Charge and fire your Empowered Flash Wave
- Use Tornado to CC the enemy forces
The above rotation can very quickly wipe out clumps of enemy players. It is important to use Blitz to reset Flash Wave to increase its damage by 20%. Rounding the Rotation out with Tornado provides support to your team before you move to clean up kills.
Generally speaking, Ensnaring Arrow followed up by Strafing + Zephyr’s Nock tends to be enough to kill a squishy target all while being able to move at the same time. However, Decisive Sniping can dish out huge amounts of damage too.
Kiting
A fantastic part about playing the Bow and Dagger as a weapon combination is your ability not only to chase, but to kite as well. If you are being chased by an enemy assassin or a couple of players, be sure to make the most of your defensive skill. Overtaker can defend you from some damage and potentially boost your Evasion massively by blocking a Fury Attack. However, it can also gain you some distance and buff your own damage through the Lequirus dagger passive. To kite, consider the following skill usage:
- Overtaker to gain distance, avoid damage and boost your own damage
- Camouflage to get some un-targetable breathing room
- Zephyr’s Nock out of stealth for a guaranteed Critical Hit or Blitz into another Camouflage
- Ensnaring Arrow the closest target
- Start to spam Strafing procs
- If you didn’t use Blitz for the above options, using Blitz to reset Ensnaring Arrow to snare another assailant or chain it onto the same target is an option too
- Should your opponent be low and begin backing off, chase them down with Shadow Strike + Brutal Incision if you have it slotted
Support
In large scale, both Nature’s Blessing and Healing Touch together provides fantastic sustain and small-level support for your party. As a result, we heavily recommend picking up these two skills by dropping Ankle Strike and Brutal Incision if you’re struggling with survival.
