Introduction

In The First Descendant you will need to complete void fragment missions in order to obtain void shards. These void shards are utilized to activate void reactors. You will need to activate certain void reactors so you can kill the boss that spawns at the reactor and then open the amorphous material associated with that reactor. This void fragment guide will walk you though everything you need to know about these missions.

How to Get Void Shards

In order to obtain void shards in The Fist Descendant you will need to complete void fragment missions. You can find these missions in almost every zone. However, each void fragment missions requires the use of a specific element in order to obtain the void shards.

For example, the void fragment mission in Grand Square, Kingston is a non-attribute void fragment mission. This means you must use a Descendant that has non-attribute abilities in order to successfully start and complete the mission to receive void shards.

When you’re at a void fragment mission you will see a void fragment pylon. In order begin the mission you must use an ability that matches the pylon’s element. Using the example above you would need to attack the pylon with a non-attribute ability. For example, you could utilize Ajax and attack the pylon withe the void walk ability. Once you do so, the mission will begin. You will need to clear waves of enemies, attack the pylon again once you can, and repeat in order to finally break the pylon and collect your rewards.

Each void fragment mission in the game will reward you with void shards upon completion. However, each void fragment mission will reward you with different types and quantities of void shards. There are 4 different types of void shards in The First Descendant that include the following:

• Monomer
• Polymer
• Inorganic
• Organic

It’s important to note that you can complete a void shard mission in a group with a Descendant that does not match the void fragment element. However, you will not receive any void shards. You will receive experience and the other rewards.

Void shards can also be obtained by running defense missions. However, this not a recommended method of farming the shards because the quantity you receive in the defense missions is very low.

How to Use Void Shards

Once you have obtained some void shards, you can utilize those shards to activate a void reactor. Each void reactor requires the use of a combination of 2 different types of void shards. Every void reactor has associated amorphous material.

Once you active the reactor, a boss will spawn. If you defeat the boss you will be able to open one of the amorphous that’s associated with the void reactor.
