Introduction
Beast Bane and Beast ward gear in New World will be highly sought after during New World Season 2, Blood of the Sands. This is due to the new Elite Trial called the Arena of Shah Neshen, The Devourer (also known as the sandwurm raid) being added to the game.
The sandwurm and other enemies within the arena are classified as beast-type enemies. This means that players will want to utilize beast ward and beast bane gear in order to be effective during this encounter. The below information outlines how you can obtain beast ward and beast bane gear in order to prepare for the sandwurm.
The Protector’s Arena
In order to obtain beast ward armor prior to the season 2 update you can farm the Protector‘s arena. This arena is located in the Northern Part of Reekwater, just north of the Lazarus Instrumentality Expedition. Upon entering this arena you will face an Angry Earth level 66 named boss, Avarice.
Upon completion of the arena you will be rewarded with a protector’s equipment cache. This cache has a good chance to drop a piece of mossbourne armor. The armor comes in all armor weights (light, medium, and heavy) and beast ward is a locked perk for the armor type.
The mossbourne armor will drop at 590+ gear score as long as your expertise is at the required amount. The other perks outside of beast ward are random, and the attribute you will roll on the gear is random as well. However, the perk bucket for the gear is very PvE friendly so you have a solid chance at getting a good piece of beast ward gear each time you complete the arena.
However, the downside to utilizing this method to farm beast ward gear is that you will need to obtain a tuning orb in order to enter the PvE arena.
Season 2 Questline
Completing the Season 2 Questline will reward you will a full suit of medium beast ward gear called the Devourer’s set, along with a beast ward tower shield. You will also receive some weapons with beast bane.
This is an excellent way to obtain beast ward and beast bane gear for free, and the armor set comes equipped with chitin padding for acid resist. You will want to slot the chitin padding in your gear for this encounter due to the acid damage from the sandwurm. This makes this set a very desirable option.
The below chart outlines the quest that you will need to complete for the associated piece of beast ward and beast bane gear. The gear below is listed in the order in which you will acquire it from the quest. Please note that there are also other rewards outside of the gear listed below mixed into the questline as well.
Siege of Sulfur
Another way to obtain beast ward and beast bane gear post the season 2 update is to complete the world event, Siege of Sulfur. Defend the eggs against waves of enemies until you reach the final phase which pits your group against thee Remnant of the Unmaker, a level 66 elite boss. Once the boss is defeated you will be rewarded with siege of sulfur spoils. The crate you receive will depend on how well your group defended the eggs:

The cache that you will are shooting for in order to get beast gear is the bonus cache that you can get up to 3 times per day from completing the event, the Siege of Sulfur Spoils.
This cache will reward you with gear called Albino Sclerite gear. The armor from the cache comes with beast bane and acid resistance locked. The other perks and attribute are rolled randomly.
You will also have a chance to receive an Albino Sclerite weapon that has the beast bane perk locked. The other perks and attribute are randomly rolled.
Beast Bane and Beast Ward Craft Mods
If you wish to craft beast bane or beast ward gear you’ll have to acquire the craft mods, Vial of Wolf Essence and Draught of Wolf Essence.
The Vial of Wolf Essence is used to craft gear with beast ward and this mod can only be obtained via armoring and skinning aptitude crates. However, upon the release of season 2 they will also be included in the drop pool for corrupted portal caches.
The Draught of Wolf Essence is used to craft gear with beast bane. This mod can be obtained by skinning timberwolves. It can also be obtained via arcane, engineering, skinning, and weaponsmithing aptitude crates, and upon the release of season 2 they will also be included in the drop pool for corrupted portal caches.
