Introduction

In New World Aeternum, you can build a camp while traversing the wilderness. A camp is incredibly useful as it serves as a respawn point if you die in the open world. You can rest at a camp to regain HP quickly, and you can craft basic items at your camp.

How to Gain Access to Your Camp

In order to obtain the ability to place down a camp you must first complete a series of quests in order to unlock the ability to do so.

Once you wash up on the shores of Aeternum you’ll be guided through a series of beginner quests on the beach. You will need to complete those quests. If you do not complete those quests you will not be able to access the quests in town. So, do not skip these.

Once you complete the first few quests you will then be directed to the closest town. You will need to continue to progress through the quest line and you’ll eventually be directed to the survivalist. Once you’re directed to the survivalist in your applicable starter town you’ll be able to complete the quest that will grant you the ability to craft your camp in the wild.

Very important to note that you can only utilize your camp as a respawn point if it is within 500 meters of your character.

How to Place Your Camp & Restricted Landmarks

You can craft your camp by pressing the default key Y. This will then give you a ghost camp that you can place. It’s important to note that you will not be able to place a camp within a landmark. The landmarked areas can be identified on your map by dotted or dashed outlines of a specific area. You must be outside a landmark or territory to place your camp. The camp also requires you to be on semi-even ground for the camp placement to work.

Once that camp is placed you will then need 5 wood and 1 flint to build it. Once your camp is constructed, you will have the option to rest or craft. Rest at your camp by pressing the default key of “T” and the default key of “E” to craft.

How to Upgrade Your Camp in New World

Your camp can be upgraded from Tier I up to Tier V. In order to upgrade your camp you must reach the appropriate level milestone to unlock the quest. This needs to be completed in order to unlock your next tier of camp. The quests can be obtained at the following milestones

  • Level 10 – Camping Tier 1
  • Level 15 – Camping Tier 2
  • Level 30 – Camping Tier 3
  • Level 40 – Camping Tier 4
  • Level 55 – Camping Tier 5

Unlocking the next tier of your camp will require the completion of a quest. If you are unsure where you are at in the quest chain, check it in your character UI. Doing so will let you know what quest you will need to complete to further level your camp.

Crafting at Your Camp

Basic items can be crafted at your camp. These items include a tier 1 wooden longsword, flint arrows, flint tools, and basic fishing bait. You only craft tier 1 tools at the camp no matter the level of the camp. You must have the appropriate tier camp, necessary materials, and the appropriate cooking level. Higher tier items such as attribute foods, trade skill food, or dyes can not be crafted at your camp.

You can also craft Health Recovery, Mana Recover, Blight Tinctures, and Corruption Tinctures all the way up to tier 5. This requires you to have the appropriate tier camp, materials, and Arcana level in order to do so. You can not craft any magical weapons or any other potions, tinctures, or coatings at your camp. You must be at an Arcana station of the appropriate tier in order to do so.

Using Your Camp While Flagged for PvP

There are some important differences between your camp respawning while flagged for PvP

  • When flagged for PvP, choosing to respawn at a camp activates an incrementally increasing respawn cooldown.
    • For each subsequent camp respawn this cooldown increases.
    • If the player chooses to respawn elsewhere (for instance, at a settlement), the cooldown will continue counting down in the background.
      • If the player dies while flagged for PvP while the cooldown is counting down, the time increment will be added to the current value.
      • This makes respawning at a settlement and running back into the fray a great way for players to lower their camp cooldown.
