Skill Recommendations
Burst Rogue For a high damage build we recommend Rupture and Weakpoint Attack as your active skills. Rupture deals heavy amounts of Damage over Time. Weakpoint Attack is the Premiere Rogue Skill and is good in both solo and group play. This allows you to set up targets for high amounts of burst damage by reducing the target’s defence by 50% for 5 seconds.
Stealth Rogue – For this set up swap out Rupture for Hide. For this Skill set up you will choose the Stealth Support Perks. We’ll speak more about this below.
Perks
In Dark and Darker, Perks are passive traits that effect how your Rogue performs in combat. At Max level, Clerics can choose up to 4 perks. Here are the perks available to Rogues in Dark and Darker:

Perk Recommendations
What perks you choose as Rogue will highly depend on what your active skills are. Below we break down the Perks you’d choose for both Stealth and High Damage builds.
Burst Rogue
- Poison Blade
- Backstab
- Creep
- Lockpick
- Double Jump
This is the standard package for Rogue that has a ton of burst potential with Weakpoint Attack combined with Poison Blade and Dagger Expert. You can also apply heavy pressure on targets by applying Poison and bleeds to your enemies.
Without the stealth package, the Burst Rogue also has some nice utility. Lockpick is great to help your team unlock chests to make sure you’re getting the most profit out of every lobby.
Stealth Rogue
- Ambush
- Backstab
- Poisoned Weapon
- Stealth
- Double Jump
- Shadow Runner
This Perk setup allows you to deal lethal amounts of damage from stealth while applying Bleeds and Poisons to finish off even the tankiest of targets. Positioning and Tactics are key to making this build effective. Shadow Runner is an essential perk in the Stealth Rogue’s kit to ensure a fast engagement out of stealth.
Double Jump is incredibly powerful in the right hands in any Rogue build. Double Jump is a strong movement tool that allows you to massively outplay enemies, while also getting to hiding spots nobody else can reach.
Weapons
The rogue has a limited amount of weapons that he can equip. All are quick-attacking melee weapons.
- Castillon Dagger
- Stiletto Dagger
- Rapier
- Rondel Dagger
- Throwing Knife
- Hand Crossbow
The best set-up for Rogue is a Rapier in the main hand and a Dagger in the offhand. This allows you to pump out the most amount of damage and get access to both weapons’ stats.
Stat Priority
Rogues Stat Priority is pretty simple. As always All Attribute gear is ideal, but as a Rogue make sure to look for Agility. Strength can also be helpful to increase your physical damage output. One of the Unique things about Rogues, though, is its access to Poisoned Weapon. Poisoned Weapon is a magic-based ability that deals damage over time and can be stacked. Each tick benefits from the “Additional Magic Damage” stat. Due to this Rogues should prioritize this Stat, as it severally increases the rogue’s damage output.
- Additional Magic Damage
- All Attributes
- Agility
- Strength
How to Play Rogue in Dark and Darker
In Dark and Darker, Rogue is divided up into two different playstyles: Burst Rogue and Stealth Rogue. In this guide we will walk through both. Burst Rogue is more new player friendly and plays well in groups. The Steal Rogue requires good positioning and tactics to make it effective with a higher skill floor and Ceiling.
Burst Rogue
Burst Rogue is centered around coordinating attacks with your team using Weakpoint Attack and applying Rupture. Weakpoint Attack reduces the target’s defence by 50% by 5 seconds. This opens up the target for increased Bleed and Poison damage from Poisoned Weapons as well as other damage from your teammates.
Positioning is important as rogue. Make sure to step into your target as you deal damage and duck out after you land a few blows. Also, due to rogues poor survivability, don’t be afraid to disengage targets once you use your Skills to allow them to regen for your burst attack.
Stealth Rogue
The Stealth Rogue is centered around using Hide to position yourself behind targets using the Stealth, Backstab and Ambush Perks. This gives you “one shot” potential on most targets. For added damage make sure to attempt to attack your targets in the back of the head.
The stealth playstyle is great for solo but can also work well in group play. When running with a squad, your group can help you get in position by distracting enemies while you remain in stealth, in position. Again, make sure to use your cooldowns and disengage combat when needed to prepare for your next burst window.
Remember to utilize your Dot damage and movement speed as much as possible.
