Overview

The goal in Dark and Darker is to get in, grab the loot, survive, and also get out alive. During your dungeon diving experience, you will encounter various traps, players, monsters, and other dangerous things all trying to kill you. To do this successfully, you will have to learn all the Dark and Darker maps.

You will be spawned into a particular map each time you begin a match. It’s imperative to your survival, however, that you learn how to navigate each dungeon. Learning each map is a great way to boost your survival chances in Dark and Darker.

Crypts vs Inferno Dark and Darker Maps

The Crypt is the standard and original Dark and Darker dungeon experience. You’ll enter a forgotten castle full of treasure, treasure hunters and monsters.

Each time a match begins the game will roll one of the Crypt maps. There are also currently 6 Crypts in the game. However, the Crypt is currently a static map, with the developers considering a random generated module design in future.

There are also 3 Inferno Dark and Darker maps, one usually being High Roller exclusive. You can access the inferno maps by traveling through the red static staircases that you can find in the crypt.

These rooms however are much higher difficult and have a dungeon boss with mechanics that you can fight and kill for great loot. These bosses are also incredibly difficult to take down.

There is also several other maps in Dark and Darker for you to delve and loot for riches. Such as the Goblin Cave, Ice Cavern and Ruins (which is not currently in rotation).

Different Game Modes

There are 2 different game modes you can choose from when you spawn into the game, Normal and High Roller.

The normal mode is a free-to-enter mode. This is the primary game mode of Dark and Darker that allows players to jump right into the game. The only limitation to this game mode is that you can mostly only equip Common Gear and below before Entering. If you equip above 25 Gearscore in Normal mode, you’ll be matched into a pool of infinitely scaling Gearscore players. Next, let’s look at the High-Roller game mode.

The High-Roller mode raises the stakes. This mode will provide you with higher rewards at a much greater risk. High roller mode is made for players who are skilled at the game. This Mode requires you to be Level 20 to Enter.

Upon entering high roller mode you will also be pitted against better competition in terms of players and the difficulty of monsters. However, with greater risk comes greater reward. In this mode, you’ll earn more rare weapons and armor and obtain legendary gear without killing the bosses within the Inferno maps.

Currently, the game has 3 active maps to choose from. These maps rotate in and out of Dark and Darker periodically.

  • Crypts (Normal and High Roller)
  • Goblin Cave (Normal and High Roller)
  • Ice Cavern (Normal and High Roller)

Each map rotates every 2-3 minutes between solo, duo and trio game modes.
