Hi! My name is Ken! I stream on Twitch and have a passion for building a community of friendly people who love to play video games. I am currently playing The Elder Scrolls Online as my main game, so you can expect quite a bit of ESO content here. However, every now and then I stream a random game and post reviews, videos, gameplay footage of those games as well! Thank you for checking out the website, and if you need a community to be a part of make sure to join our Discord! There’s a ton of awesome people in there!
Borderland Games (Now BDLG) was established in September 2010. The name Borderland Games was derived from the store being on the Border of Texas and Arkansas. Therefore, the name Borderland Games seemed perfect!
I (Kenneth) started the store as a brick and mortar store and sold new and used games, consoles, accessories, DVD’s, blu-ray’s, Magic the Gathering cards, vintage video games and consoles, etc. Pretty much anything gaming related I bought and sold. I also established a dedicated gaming center that was rented out by the hour or by the event. I held a ton of gaming tournaments, birthday parties, and other events regularly and had a great time doing it!
However, the retail industry is a taxing one and so ultimately the decision was made to shut down the store in February of 2016. The store was successful, but it was time to move on. I was never home and never able spend time with my wife and kids due to the brutal hours that retail required. Closing the store was a very bitter-sweet moment.
While I owned the store I decided to delve into the world of content creation, primarily live streaming on Twitch. I also made a few videos about vintage items that came through the store (I had many questions on them daily so I thought why not create videos and direct people to those! You can see those here). I began streaming on Twitch during early 2014. I started by streaming League of Legends on a very casual basis. I would fire up the stream 2-3 times a week just for fun. In mid 2014 I came across a game called Project Zomboid, and began to dual stream it with my buddy Briscoe. We had a blast.
I began to pull a few viewers which led to a few followers, and then I was hooked. I loved the interaction that a live stream provided and had so much fun meeting new people. So, I believe it was roughly November / December of 2014 when I decided to set a streaming schedule and stick to it.
I streamed very consistently 5 nights a week from 10:00pm – 2:00am from late 2014 until the middle of 2015. Life circumstances led me to dwindling the stream times down quite a bit until finally I had to drop streaming altogether in August of 2015. During that time an amazing community was created and I hated to stop but I really had no choice. However, in October of 2017 I was able to begin my streaming journey once again, and was able to maintain a consistent schedule starting in May of 2018.
In April of 2019 I decided to re-brand the BorderlandGames name into what is now simply BDLG. I decided to this because there was some confusion with the name and the “Borderlands” game, even though my business was not named after the game.
Now, it’s all about building a community of Gamers that just like to have fun and enjoy one another’s company. The brick and mortar retail era of Borderland Games is over, but the content creation and community building of BDLG is now in full swing.
